AGM Young Quilter Challenge 2015 theme is Blooming Marvellous

The Quilters' Guild AGM will be held from 24 - 26 April 2015 in Harrogate International Conference Centre.

The theme for the YQ competition is Blooming Marvellous and is open to all Young Quilter members. YQ School subscribers are welcome to enter the Groups/Schools quilt category, new for 2015!

Competition Guidelines

  • Using your imagination, have fun whilst making a quilted item up to 60cm (24”) for the theme “Blooming Marvellous”. Be as creative as you like. It can be something useful or decorative.
  • You can use any technique – patchwork, quilting, appliqué or a mixture of techniques, hand or machine sewing.
  • There are three categories to enter: Individual aged 11 and under, Individual aged 12-16 and Group Quilts.
  • Remember work needs to be made by young quilters but please state if any adult help has been received.

RULES OF ENTRY

  • The individual categories are open to all current YQ members.
  • The Group Quilts category is open to all current YQ School members, groups led by an Interested Adult member and groups led by a YQ volunteer who is a member of The Quilters’ Guild.
  • Entry is free but you must register your entry by: Saturday 7th March 2015 (see below for details).
  • You do not have to attend the AGM to enter.
  • Entries may be hand and/or machine sewn.
  • Entries received after the closing date of 11th April 2015 will not be entered into the challenge competition.

Entries will be displayed at the conference and will be judged during the weekend. The winners will be announced at the end of the Conference and prizes awarded. You may collect your entry at the end of the Conference weekend or from the Guild Office in York. If you would like your entry posted back to you, please enclose a cheque to cover return postage. Although every care will be taken, we advise entrants to insure their entries against damage or loss.

HOW TO ENTER

Cut off and keep the label at the bottom of the Entry/Registration Form. This will need to be carefully filled in and attached to your entry when it is sent or handed in.

Complete the enclosed Entry/Registration form and send it by Saturday 7th March 2015 to The Quilters’ Guild of the British Isles, St Anthony’s Hall. Peasholme Green, York.

Send your entry to Diana Thomson, 20, East End, Walkington, Beverley, East Yorkshire, HU17 8RY, to arrive no later than Saturday 11th April 2015 . Note change of address for delivery of entries and also closing date. Entries received after this date will not be entered into the competition at Conference. These should not be sent to Guild HQ.

The Doris Debney Prize (£100) will be awarded to the best individual quilt.
